Brown & Brown of Detroit is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team of experienced Property & Casualty insurance professionals as a Small Business Account Manager.  This is a good match for someone looking to provide Commercial Lines knowledge and expertise to existing clients, along with prospecting and working referrals.  This position would be responsible for day to day client interactions including policy changes, billing questions, renewal processing, and marketing of policies to carriers.  Must be able to work with Applied Agency Management System, carrier online rating systems, and process high volume of daily activities with attention to detail.


 Required Competencies

  • Currently holds P&C License in Michigan
  • At least 2 years of insurance experience

Location:  Sterling Heights, MI for 1 year training then must relocate within the U.S.

Job Summary
This position will provide training to become an Accounting Leader at a location of Brown & Brown, Inc. (NYSE: BRO).  You will learn the accounting responsibilities for an insurance agency that include monthly analysis of financial information, annual budgeting, supervision of staff, and submitting financial data to management and Corporate.  The Accounting Leader maintains and promotes the positive environment of the office with making sure Brown & Brown’s guidelines and processes are met.  Some offices also have Human Resource, IT, & Facility Management responsibilities.  HR responsibilities include new employee orientation, facilitating employee corrective actions, maintaining employee guidelines and employee exit interviews.  IT responsibilities include overseeing the 3rd party vendor and IT administrator.  Facilities Management responsibilities include overseeing the grounds to make sure they are maintained by the building management and supplies are ordered by staff.

Required Competencies

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Computer skills must include Intermediate to Advanced Excel, as well as Intermediate Word and Outlook
  • Accounting Degree Required

The ideal candidate should have a P&C license.
