ALCOS/Brown & Brown Celebrates 50 Years of Community Service.
Sterling Heights, Mich. — Sterling Heights-based ALCOS, a subsidiary of Fla.-based Brown & Brown, Inc. (NYSE: BRO) is celebrating 50 years as a Metro Detroit business leader.
Founded in 1958 by well-known amateur golfer Glenn H. Johnson and NCAA champion and recognized Olympic swimmer William A. Prew, ALCOS has grown to serve more than 2,800 area businesses and 45,000 families. The company employs 90 and grosses $18 million in annual revenue. In 2006 ALCOS was acquired by Brown & Brown, Inc and continues operations in Sterling Heights and Ann Arbor under the name ALCOS / Brown & Brown.
